CORDOVA, TN- Memphis mayor A C Wharton describes the Shelby Farms Greenline as a natural treasure. The Greenline has been extremely popluar with people all over the city, including those in Cordova.

The Shelby Farms Greenline is a seven mile trail that connects Midtown Memphis to Shelby Farms.  However, in Cordova they feel disconnected.

"People talk about that Greenline everywhere," Wharton told abc24.com.

Everywhere also includes Cordova where the Cordova Leadership Council is working to extend the Greenline.

"What Cordovans want is an extension so we can get into the park as cleanly and smoothly as possible as the rest of the city," said council member Brian Stephens.

Before Cordova can enjoy a Greenline expansion there's one big obstacle in the way, Germantown Parkway.

"That's going to be a biggie, getting across that six lane Germantown Parkway," Memphis City Councilman Bill Boys told abc24.com

Stephens told abc24.com that getting the Greenline across Germantown Road won't be a problem at all.

"The plans already done. They already know how they want to do it. These people that built the Greenline know what they're doing," said Stephens.

Mayor Wharton has stated he supports the Cordova Greenline expansion and would like to see it extended throughout the entire city.
