MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The NBA lock-out isn't stopping Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph from being an all-star off the court.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Randolph helped to provide Thanksgiving meals for about 85 less fortunate families in Frayser. Randolph told abc24.com the event was the least he could do to give back to the community.

"I just want to give back to the community and help out and make sure people have a good meal,” said Randolph.

Families from Youth Visions Inc. were served Thanksgiving dinner a bit early this year. The meal included turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn and dinner rolls. The gesture was much appreciated.

"This will be the only meal a lot of families in our community will receive, so we want to make it a special night for our families in the Frayser area,” said Marron Thomas, executive director of Youth Visions Inc.

The meals were prepared by students from Le'Cole Culinaire School in Memphis.

Thanks Youth Visions and Z-Bo for this most heartfelt gesture towards that community. It doesn't take much from the 'haves' to the 'have nots' to show that human kindness exists in this world. A community constantly bombarded by negative commentary and minimal affluence among the mighty deserves special treatment at a special time of the year. Happy Thanksgiving to all who supported this initiative!
