She may have been wrong for telling a student that they would go to hell for something they have done or choices they made but to say she should not express Christian views in school. It's not her place to judge. But, Where have you people been? When I went to school in Haywood Co many years ago.....We said the Pledge...Had moments of silence and Yes folks You were allowed to pray and express Christian views. Its idiots like the person who posted what his tax money shouldnt pay......But its ok for you to pay taxes for someone to get a goverment check, drive a new car, draw foodstamps, and sit on their butt..... But you want to degrade a working women for stating an opion. I have a pregnant 15 year old and I still agree with her. You people need to look a little deeper and Thank this women for hanging in there and educating these kids for the years that she did. Not all of us would have lasted that long. Bet you wouldnt have, I know I wouldnt.

The ACLU shows up when civil liberties have been infringed. They have helped those on both sides of the socio-political spectrum. They have defended a Southern town's right to display the Confederate Flag. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/protesters-defend-confederate-flag-virginia-part-our-heritage Yet I keep seeing a bunch of maroons on here screaming that the ACLU are Commies and are part of the Liberal Conspiracy to force PC on everyone (apparently now, being respectful to those who are different is too much to ask), just because the public employee who violated the First amendment as well as board policy did so in favor of the religion with which they happen to agree in this one instance. What logic!

Thank goodness for the ACLU. I'm a proud member and donor. In a backward intellectual wasteland like small-town Tennessee, the ACLU is sometimes the ONLY organization willing to take a stand for fairness and civil rights. That principal had absolutely no business being in ANY position of authority over children, not to mention her open proselytizing in a public school.

Where was all the outrage and parent concern when a teacher was accused of molesting her students at haywood high? No one was or is concerned about the affects it had on that child or her teammates! You "good citizens" that don't attend school board meetings, parent teacher conferences or play an active role in your child's education until you get a call from the school! Ms Bond showed a lack of professionalism and good judgement if any of the alleged comments are true. A school assembly was not the forum to express personal veiws. If Ms Bond has been as out spoken about these issues since her days at Sunny Hill why has no parent come forward before now. The posibility of finacial gain is more assured now with the apperance of th ACLU. The "Christian" of today is the same as the "Non Believer" self asorbed, arrogant with their laywer on speed dail. We are not teaching these children anything they need to survive as a society of the future as heterosexuals, homosexuals or human beings!

torqueflite sums it up nicely. Anyone who thinks they "support" this woman's actions is simply confused. Imagine that this principal had tried to force her religous view onto children, and those views weren't Christian but another of the endless streams of religions that you don't agree with. If you agree with what she did, then you would also have to agree that it would be ok for a Satan worshipper to instruct children to lives their lives based on the opinions of the Satanic church. "Christian" is a very broad label that can be applied to a wide range of insanity. The best people I've ever known and the absolute worst both carried the same label of "Christian".

@chillpill Excuse me? Why WOULD the ACLU focus on the parents of children who aren't gay? The principal didn't tell their children they were going to hell, so I don't get what point you're trying to prove. Teachers are not to endorse any religion or personal beliefs, and what she did was illegal. That's the end, thank goodness she resigned.

@chillpill "...the Principal thats trying to help these kids(and yes i do believe her beliefs were helping)" What makes you believe that telling vulnerable teenagers that they are not welcome and that they are going to hell is in any way helpful??? Have you ever heard of all these gay teenagers who have killed themselves in the last couple of years because they couldn't take the constant bullying of some of their peers anymore? Do you really think that we should add to that the bullying of a bigoted adult in a position of power? No one should be discriminated against and bullied because of who they are, especially not kids. Is that so hard to understand?

@ryan - Yes, but denigrating ANY student for their orientation, as well as putting prayer in a public school, has NO PLACE in s system paid for by us, the taxpayers. Some years ago, in a darker time in our history, she would not have been welcome in that same school. When she got that right, would you have blamed it on the African American "activists"?
