COLLIERVILLE, TN (abc24.com) - A Super Bowl champion and hometown hero made a stop in Collierville Thursday.

Morgan Cox from the Baltimore Ravens was at his old school, Crosswinds Elementary, for "Soup-er Bowl Week".

The school is participating in a canned food drive for the Collierville Food Bank. Cox's grandfather, a former Collierville mayor, helped open the bank.

"I want to come back and help in anyway that I can if it's encouraging kids, if it's stuff like this - doing food drives and stuff," he said. "I remember doing food drives when I was going through school."

Cox also got a chance to thank students for their support during the Super Bowl. Students sent letters and text messages wishing him well.

Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner proclaimed March 7th Morgan Cox Day. Cox visits Crosswind Elementary every year.
