NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Temperatures across Tennessee are predicted to build during the week, reaching highs on Friday that will produce some triple-digit readings.

The National Weather Service forecasts call for late week high temperatures of 101 degrees in Nashville and Clarksville, 100 degrees in Memphis and upper 90s in most other spots.

By Friday, Chattanooga will likely reach 98 degrees, Knoxville will bake under 97-degree heat and even the Tri-Cities can expect a Friday afternoon high of 95 degrees.

Even the uplands will be hot - 95 degrees in Gatlinburg and 94 in Crossville.

No precipitation is in the forecast and nearly all of the state ranges from abnormally dry conditions to drought status with the most severe conditions in the Reelfoot Lake region of northwest Tennessee.
