NASHVILLE, TN (abc24.com) - The Internal Revenue Service announced that nearly 2,000 Tennessee taxpayers haven't collected their refund checks.

Due to mailing address errors, $2.1 million in checks are waiting to be delivered. Nationwide, there are more than 99,000 undelivered checks totaling $153 million.

Taxpayers can check the status of their refund by visiting IRS.gov and clicking on the "Where's My Refund?" tool, or by calling 1-800-829-1954.

The IRS also warned that they do not contact filers by e-mail, and any alert posing as the IRS asking for personal or financial information via email is a common scam.
