MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A man wanted for murder in Illinois was captured in Memphis after a police chase on I-40 Sunday afternoon.

An officer tried to pull over a white Toyota Solara with an obstructed license plate near mile marker 43 on I-40 on Fayette County just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 16. The driver refused to pull over, and a pursuit ensued with the suspect driving at speeds up to 110 mph. One of the suspect's rear tires blew out, but he continued driving on the rim at a high rate of speed westbound on I-40 into Shelby County.

When the suspect approached traffic stopped due to an accident, he struck two vehicles and continued on the shoulder back onto I-40, turning onto East Parkway to Summer Avenue where he lost control and knocked down a telephone pole at Summer and Waring.

The suspect ran from the vehicle and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. He identified himself to officers as Jacob Anderson, but an officer noticed the suspect was wearing makeup to cover a teardrop tattoo under his right eye. The suspect admitted to police his name was Kody Ryan Walsh, and he was wanted for a murder out of Rockford, Illinois. Officers also found a rifle and ammunition in the vehicle.

Kody Walsh, 22, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Theft of Property, Vehicle Registration Violation and two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Injuries. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court September 18.

Authorities in Rockford, Ill., want Walsh in the shooting death of a woman on Interstate 90 a week ago.
