JACKSON, TN (abc24.com) - When a man in Jackson, TN tried to turn himself in to police without committing a crime, he walked out, stole a gumball machine, then came right back to jail to turn himself in again.

32-year-old Clint Sims showed up at the Madison County Jail around 9:30 p.m. on March 27 and stated he wanted to turn himself in, but a records check showed no warrants for his arrest.

Investigators state Sims then stole a gumball machine from the jail and walked over to the Criminal Justice Complex to break out the glass of a side door and window. Sims returned to the Madison County Jail and was taken into custody.

Clint Sims is charged with Burglary, Felony Vandalism and Theft of Property.
