MEMPHIS, TN— Shelby County deputies say a jogger found a body at Shelby Farms on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Investigators say the body was in a ravine. Police identified the man as 21-year-old Paul Victor III from Olive Branch, Mississippi. Investigators have evidence that indicates trauma to the body and are investigating the case as a homicide, the first murder case for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office this year.
"The crime scene is a wide area because we found clues here and there," said Chip Washington, spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Those unanswered questions didn't seem to bother people who regularly visit Shelby Farms.
“I still feel it's a safe a place," said a jogger Dominique Gibbs. "You constantly see people driving by, park rangers are always around, and there are so many people on top of that.”
"We enjoy it a lot, it's a good place to walk, nice people over here,” said Kevin Rardin who was taking a walk with wife. “It's concerning certainly but overall Shelby Farms is a real asset to the city so we'll keep coming over here."
Deputies are still investigating this case. If you have any information about this homicide call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
