True Dat. This law doesn't bother me nearly as much as it's supporters complete denial of the motivation behind it. This law serves one purpose and that purpose is to decrease democratic votes. Why do we try to pretend otherwise? If you're republican, you should be proud of this victory.

Sorry, Nomercy. That dog won't hunt. Thinking people know exactly what's behind the laws.

ReligionStinks - so are you sterotyping all inner city and poor people as democrats ? this whole argument is baseless - anyone has to show i.d. for any number of things i.e. check cashing, buying beer/wine & receiving govt assistance. if this is true, then why would anyone be against the notion of having to prove who you are when exercising one of our most sacred rights as an American citizen.

Republicans know that the fewer people who vote, the more Republicans will be elected. These voter ID laws are nothing but a means for them to intimidate people in the inner cities, who are least likely to have driver lecenses, into not voting.

There is noting wrong with a government voter id. You have to have it to win in a casin0. You need it for cashing checks, you need it for disability. Surely elections are just as important.

This just enforces the stereotype that blacks are stupid and incompetent and really can't be trusted to behave like the rest of us.
