MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com)--Sports talk radio host Eric Hasseltine said it was time for Tigers Head Football coach Larry Porter to go. "It slipped away rapidly," Hasseltine told abc24.com.

The calls to Hasseltine's radio show came as rapidly as Porter's two years as Head Coach. One caller said "I've been a loser my whole life so I can relate to the football team." Terrance from Jackson, MS is a University of Southern Miss fan but he called in support of Coach Porter. Hasseltine told abc24.com the way the Tigers were losing left U of M Athletics Director R.C. Johnson no choice but to fire the former Tiger running back.

Couch Porter is apparently a very nice guy (well liked by his players), but the offensive play calling was so unimaginative that it defied credulity. THEY SIMPLY HAD NO PLAYS! It was always 3 and out. Consequently, the defense was left on the field for so long that it became tired and unable to resist. (translation: surrendered points by the truckload.) People are willing to buy tickets when they come to EXPECT lots of scoring from their team. They will not buy when they can only hope for other than another 3 and out. If the school interviews a defensive genius, give Ole Miss a call. (They deserve him.) If an offensive genius is considered (assuming that he has the ability to hire a quality defensive coordinator, SIGN HIM UP! Make the tigers a team to be feared once again. (Went to Auburn when they were #7 in the country and beat them.) (Went to Florida, when they had Emmett Smith, and beat them.) (Went to USC and beat them.) (Beat both of the Manning brothers when they were seniors - at UT and at Ole Miss.) truckload.) Consequently, the defense was left on the field for so long that it got tired and unable to resist. (translation: gave up many points).
