Lawmakers Consider Drug Test for Welfare and Unemployment Benefits

Those in the Mid-South looking to collect state aid like welfare may soon have to take a drug test to be eligible. One Tennessee lawmaker says he wants to make the drug test a requirement and will push three bills in the 2012 legislative session to make it law.

If a cost effective way to do this can be found, it is an AWESOME idea. I would guess that the majority of Memphians who abuse government assistance, also abuse drugs. My theory is that if they don't have drugs to pass the time, sitting on their lazy asses will be pretty unfulfilling and they will eventually get a job. People should have to earn the right to do drugs by working and paying taxes.
