MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Who wants to walk to work everyday, especially in the cold? A local bike shop in Binghampton spotted a man doing just that.
"I came and he gave me the bike and I was extremely happy," said Robert Tate.
For the past 6 months, every day Robert Tate walked by Victory Bicycle Studio waving to employees inside. Little did he know that simple kind gesture would change his daily commute.
Clark Butcher, Co-owner of Victory Bicycle Studio, says a customer brought two bikes in - one for a tune-up and the other to give away.
"I went back to my business partner and said what about Robert next door? He always walks. What if we give it to him? And instantly we said perfect," said Clark Butcher.
Sunday, the owners donated the bike to Tate, who is a chef at "The Cove" just a few doors down.
"It makes me feel good. It's one of those things, it's funny. We're very privileged we could do stuff like that and honestly didn't know that the gesture was that great until we got such a big response," said Clark Butcher.
The days of walking by are over for Robert Tate but the wave remains.
"God always got a miracle somewhere," said Tate.
