MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - More than a thousand people spent Wednesday waiting in line in downtown Memphis, hoping to land a job at the South's grand hotel.

The Peabody hosted a housekeeping job fair, and the job-seekers were dedicated. They lined up around the block, waiting in line for hours.

The payoff was promising; the hotel planned to fill 30 full-time positions within its housekeeping department on the spot.

These people need and want jobs, not more "programs" and empty populist rhetoric.

Mind you, these are the some of the same people being demonized by the Republican tea party as being lazy and living off of government. Meanwhile, Romoney and Ryan want to give more to the wealthiest among us, and to pay for it, they will cut programs that help people survive, such as these people lined up desperately seeking a job.
