MEMPHIS, TN—While Memphis Police search for who killed Lorenzen Wright, family members search for answers.

“Please someone give us some answers, because all we have now are questions, “said Louise Vassar. Vassar is Wright’s grandmother and she has concerns about how the case has been handled. “No one will give us answers. We still don’t have answers as of this evening.”

Family members said when they filed a missing person report in Collierville, they told police they suspected foul play and questioned if police took the case seriously. No one from the Collierville Police Department would answer questions about that.

Days before the missing persons case was filed, Germantown Police got a 911 call from Wrights cell phone. Sources said dispatchers could hear bullets being fired. It appears no one made the connection to Wright’s disappearance. Germantown Police are also not commenting on their investigation.

Memphis Police said on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 police agencies from adjoining agencies got together to discuss the case. That’s when officers started searching for evidence related to the 911 call. The next day, Shelby County Search and Rescue crews discovered Wright’s body in a wooded field near the intersection of Hacks Cross and Winchester. Police said he was shot to death.

“We’re just holding up the best we can,” said Vassar, “We’re trying to stay strong.”
