MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Several people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle pulled out in front of a MATA bus Tuesday morning.

The accident happened just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11 on Lamar Ave near Hamilton Ave.

Investigators say the 20-year-old driver of a black Lexus pulled out from Hamilton in front of a MATA bus traveling westbound on Lamar. The impact of the bus knocked the Lexus into oncoming traffic, where a BMW was also hit.

A total of nine people were taken to area hospitals, including two children. All were transported in non-critical condition except one adult female, who was in critical condition but later upgraded to non-critical.

The driver of the Lexus, Cornelius Washington, was arrested for no driver's license or insurance and failure to yield causing an accident.
