Writing A Check For MLGW Bill, Think Again
MEMPHIS, TN, (abc24.com) - Checks are no longer taken for bills at some MLGW payment locations around Memphis.
"It’s a hassle, I don't like it," customer Paul Sulham told abc24.com.
MLGW wants the public to know the utility had nothing to do with the change. MLGW spokesperson, Glen Thomas told abc24.com it was not a company decision.
“We didn't know the vendor would take these steps during the transition period," said Thomas.
The utility company is in the process of changing the provider that handles payments made at certain locations.
"For the next week or two customers may encounter problems if they're paying at a non-MLGW location like a grocery store. They cannot write a check and may be assessed a two dollar fee," Thomas told abc24.com.
Customers can make bill payments by check for free at any of the MLGW community payment locations throughout the city.
