MLGW leaders want to increase customers' water bills by 69-cents a month.

Govt Monopoly.......Funny I pay more for utility's here in Memphis than I did in NY - I used to think NY's ConEd was bad,MLG&W brings price gouging and poor service to a new low....

MGLW disgusts me. Keep taking and taking. They are not only greedy but its crazy to have to try to make a payment of 300-500 almost every month. Don't tell me its us because we have turned off the air conditioning units for the past two months and opened the windows. Our bill was still 288. The lights stay off unless we need them. Water we run for things like laundry, dishwasher, showers, ect, we leave nothing running unless we are in the room minus the refrigerator. Now you want to increase for water usage???!!! You already charge me for turning it on and for when it goes down the drain. You over charged us for gas. Said we were refunded but my bill sure didn't go down any. Gas is our water heater and that is all. This has happened not once but I believe its twice now. Now mind you , I can tell a difference in the bills but $25 dollars less than the month before ? Jan. of this year our bill was over $500. I almost had a heart attack lol. December it was $488, I put on sweat pants, sweaters , socks ect just to stay warm even though the heater is on. Our house is not that big it makes no sense. We have chalked the windows, bought the energy saving curtains, replaced the seals around all the doors. Shall I just turn off all electricity to the house, start using candles and cooking over a fire??? I am at a loss for words that this company continues to screw us over . Something has to be done. MGLW just helping Memphis to continue to get even lower on the poor side. Just my two cents.

I could see this coming about three weeks ago when ABC-24.com ran a story about MLGW's ultra generous pension plan, whereby a 25 year employee(independent of age) could receive up to 85 percent of their last salary for life. This year alone, funding this pension plan will cost rate payers $26 million. I predicted then that a rate increase would be a regular occurence, and unfortunately, the cash grab by this greedy monopoly has officially begun.

That's it! I am taking my business elsewhere - I'll get my water from another source! OH WAIT - I can't, because MLGW is a government monopoly that doesn't have to please the 'customer' or compete for business...
