MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis Police have stationed a Blue Crush camera that will monitor the Cooper Young area at the Real Time Crime Center.

The camera, which sits at the corner of Cooper Street and Young Avenue in midtown Memphis, was set up on January 5, 2012. The move comes after a man was shot in the parking lot of Young Avenue Deli during a robbery attempt on Jan. 3rd.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton had stated previously that he wanted a camera in the area following a rash of home burglaries.

So far, there are no suspects in custody for the Jan. 3rd shooting. The victim was treated for non-critical injuries and has since been released from The MED.

Good job Mayor Tom!!!!!!!!! You might get a second term if you bring back the PST program and station them on every corner on the Copper Young block.

I would like to know why Cooper Young area is getting this camera? Whats going on in that area is going on all over Memphis, so each area going to get one? Hell we can't get street lights fixed but you can spend our tax money on something like this. Come on Warton this is not right and you know it, but its a white area and they shouldn't be getting attacked. Tell them to do like the rest of us get an alarm system in there homes or business.
