The question I have is how much more effective are the "SkyCops" versus standard video surveillance? Plus, like libertyfirst kind of implied, how does anybody know that the SkyCop cameras are the only reason for the alleged reduction in crime over the holiday weekend? If the cameras were actually catching crimes, would not crime rates be higher as a consequence?

Correlation does not imply causation.
