MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The man accused of stealing a Memphis police cruiser and setting it on fire faced a judge Monday.
Isaac Porterfield, Sr. was arraigned on a slew of charges including assault, theft and vandalism. He was arrested last week in northeast Memphis after being on the run for more than a month.
Cops say they were questioning Porterfield and his son, Isaac Porterfield, Jr., about a carjacking on New Year's Day. Senior broke free, jumped in a squad car and took off. The burned out cruiser was found several hours later in north Memphis. A police-issued shot gun was also missing from the trunk.
Porterfield tried to make a run for it when they spotted him last week. He was tackled by police and received minor injuries.
Officers arrested 15-year-old Porterfield, Jr. last month on similar charges.
