MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis police officer arrested for DUI in Mississippi is not only accused of drunk driving, Mississippi troopers say he also had illegal moonshine in his car.

46-year-old Adrian Brown was stopped on I-55 Thursday night in Madison after Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers say Brown was driving down the wrong side of the highway. When he was pulled over Brown would not cooperate and refused a DUI test.

In his car, they found an unmarked bottle of alcohol; an Alcohol Beverage Control officer was called to the scene and confirmed it to be moonshine. Brown was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, DUI, DUI refusal, and possession of moonshine.

Brown is assigned to the Airways Station. He has been with the Memphis Police Department for more than 14 years. He is currently on administrative leave with pay as the investigation continues.

"none of us are perfect" is a true statement, but this tax payer is sick to death of paying the salaries of criminals. I have lost a friend to a drunk driver. I love when people come out of the woodwork to openly defend their criminal friends. How many people has this man sent to jail on false charges? If a cop is also a criminal, then how are we supposed to believe his or her word in court? My cop friends are sick about this. It gives them all a bad name.

Hey Alicia, give that "none of us are perfect" speech to someone who's had a family member killed by a drunk driver. Tell that to the family of the 4 women kill last christmas by a drunk guy, driving on the opposite side of the road, just like Brown. I'm sure he's a good guy, and yes, we're not all perfect. But this man is supposed to protect and uphold the law, not put other civilians in danger. Police officers will always be held to a higher standard than civilians. He does not deserve any pity, nor does anyone else who provides a civil service and commits acts like this. Examples would be that scumbag Curry Todd, Ophilah Ford, or Janis Fullilove. These are positions and titles that should be respected, and if they can't keep themselves in control, then they dont deserve the job.

moonshine???? wow, no wonder he was driving on the wrong side of the road. for all u police haters and complainers about the MPD, i agree some should be fired, there are a lot on the job that should HAVE been fired that are supervisors. But once again, dont quarterback these people until u have done their jobs. Yes, they should be able to forget work when they go home they cannot forget what they see sometimes, dead bodies, busted up and abused kids, roaches climbing all over the walls, people shot, i am not saying this guy's drinking was a good thing, all i am saying is they are people too and everyone makes choices, and mistakes, some good and some bad. they will have to live with them.
