MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A watchful officer working at a school crossing helped catch a man accused of dragging a little girl into some bushes while she was walking home from school Tuesday afternoon.

The officer was approached by a 6-year-old girl before school on Wednesday, September 26 who said she was attacked while walking home Tuesday afternoon. The girl said she was walking with her 8-year-old brother on Barron Avenue when a man jumped out from the bushes, grabbed her by the neck and tried to drag her away. She was able to escape, and the man grabbed at her again and ripped her backpack as she was running from him. The man then threw a bottle at her and she was cut on the foot by the broken glass.

The officer saw 32-year-old Ronny Faulkner walking behind another group of school children on Getwell Road and police took him into custody.

Faulkner is charged with Kidnapping and Assault. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $50,000 bond.

What is WRONG,'johnb', is identifying them AS men. Grown, Male, but NOT men. My primary concern, (other than the LACK of true punishment) is the fact that they can produce offspring, vote, & collect OUR hard earned tax dollars as "benefits", while not only contributing NOTHING, but also being a constant, active, THREAT, & nothing more.

I was just watching CNN where a NBA player, a black man, was talking to a large classroom of black children and he asked a young girl about her father and her many answers were that he was never around, she didn't know him, he's not in her life.....that's why the young girl didn't report the incident after school....no dad, mom at work or out, and Grandma too tired. Black men need to man-up and stand up for their children. What in the hell is wrong with them?

@ 2kaykay <-- I was thinking the same thing!!!! Anyhow, I am so glad to hear that this little girl is ok and was able to get away from this evil pervert!! Lock his butt up and let him rot, I think everybody in jail should wear a "scarlet letter" branding them of their crime, so that everyone will know and take things "into their own hands"!!

First off I am grateful that this pervert has been caught nad taken off the streets and the little girl was able to get away and is safe and unharmed. My question is if the little girl was attached on Tuesday afternoon on the way home from school why was it that she had to go to the police officer on Wednesday morning and inform the police officer herself of the incident, where are her parents and why didnt they take action and notify police when she came home Tuesday? Is this not what any concerned parent would do?
