MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A man had to be subdued by police when he was arrested for threatening to burn his family alive in their home.
Memphis Police were called to the 3900-block of Martindale Avenue in the Raleigh area just before 11:00pm on February 3, 2012. When they arrived, a woman told officers that her grandson, 23-year-old Deondre Crowder, had poured gasoline throughout the interior and around the outside of the home because he wanted to kill everyone inside. Seven other people were at the home during the incident.
Family members were holding down Crowder until police arrived. As police were taking him into custody, Crowder violently resisted arrest and had to be restrained, according to the police affidavit. The Memphis Fire Department was also called to asses the scene.
Deondre Crowder is charged with Attempted Aggravated Arson. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $50,000 bond.
