MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police have arrested a man with two guns stolen from a cache of weapons taken from a Whitehaven home.

According to the police affidavit, a burglary occurred on the 1300-block of Mary Jane Avenue off Elvis Presley Blvd on May 23. Stolen from the home were 23 handguns, 21 rifles, and two lockboxes with personal items, including 10 gold and silver pocket watches. The estimated value of the stolen goods is over $35,000.

Investigators received a tip that 23-year-old Johnny Wash was a suspect. After a search of his south Memphis home, police found 2 handguns and a bag of marijuana. The guns were confirmed as ones being stolen in the Whitehaven burglary. Wash told investigators he had purchased the guns through an apartment window from a Vice Lord gang member.

Johnny Wash is charged with Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29.
