MEMPHIS, TN – A man was critically burned in a vacant home in Frayser while trying to keep warm, according to Memphis fire officials.

Firefighters were called to 3200 North Trezevant Street, Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 3:50 a.m.

Memphis Fire Lieutenant Wayne Cooke says when firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming out of the vacant home. It took crews about 10 minutes to put out the fire.

Cooke says a man was taken to The MED’s Burn Unit, in critical condition, with 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his arms and legs.

According to investigators, the fire appears to have been started in a rear bedroom in an attempt to keep the man warm.
