MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies have charged 38-year-old Lenard Robinson, Jr. in a deadly car wreck that happened on Christmas Eve.
Investigators say that Robinson was traveling at a high rate of speed in a Chevy Silverardo pickup when he rear ended a Chevy Impala on the Raleigh-Millington Road on the Loosahatchie River bridge. The impact caused the car to swerve into oncoming traffic. A Ford F-150 hit the Impala on the passenger side.
The driver, 47-year-old Tarla Fisher, and 3 passengers, 44-year-old Shirley Watkins, 26-year-old Chrystal Hill, and 42-year-old Marjorie Tucker, died at the scene. Fisher and Watkins are sisters and Hill is their niece. All four women were from Memphis.
Two people in the F-150, James Reece and Luke McElravey, were injured and taken to the Med. Reece is in critical condition. McElravey is stable.
Robinson is charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, speeding and felony reckless endangerment. The crash is still under investigation.
