MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A man is charged with murder after he was caught fleeing the scene where Memphis police found his wife with her throat cut in a Summer Avenue parking lot Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to the parking lot of a business on the 6200-block of Summer Avenue in northeast Memphis around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 30. When they arrived, officers found a 32-year-old woman with a cut to her throat. She was transported to The MED, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators say the victim had been fighting with her husband, 32-year-old Travis Capshaw, in the parking lot of where she worked when he attacked her with a knife. Capshaw drove off before police arrived, but he was apprehended after a brief chase on I-40 near mile marker 78 by Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Travis Capshaw is charged with First Degree Murder. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court September 4.
