Man Found Dead in Boarding House Fire

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An investigation in underway after a deadly house fire near the downtown area early Monday morning.

Memphis firefighters were called to a boarding house on the 300-block of Boyd Street around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6. The fire was brought under control by 3 a.m.

As fire investigators conducted a search, they found the body of an adult male in an upper level of the building. The victim's identity and cause of death has not been released.

The Memphis Fire Department has not yet determined what started the fire, but stated the building did have a working smoke detector.
