MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis man faces life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, whom he strangled, shot and ran over with his car.

Dimitrie Colbert, 20, pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder and agreed to serve life in prison with the possibility of parole.

According to police, Colbert admitted to investigators that he attacked 19-year-old Janette Corria at her home in August of last year because of her possible relationship with another man.

Colbert told police he drove her to West Memphis where he beat, strangled and shot her, then ran over her with his car.

He was caught after he crashed while trying to evade police and officers found Corria's body in the backseat.
