MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A fight over a couple's unborn child led to a violent outburst where a 7-week-old puppy was killed.
Memphis police were called to an apartment on the 4800-block of Tulane Road just before 2:30 a.m. on March 19. According to the police affidavit, a woman told officers that she and her boyfriend of 5 months had gotten into a fight when she told him she was pregnant and planned to have an abortion. Her boyfriend, 21-year-old Leanthony Moore, became angry and slapped her across the face, the document states.
The victim said that after Moore pushed her against a wall and threw an ash tray at her stomach, he went into the bedroom and got a 7-week-old pit bull puppy out of its kennel and brought it into the living room, strangling the puppy in front of her. Moore then threw the puppy across the room, killing it when it hit the floor.
Leanthony Moore is charged with Domestic Assault and Aggravated Animal Cruelty. He is currently being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail.
