MARSHALL COUNTY, MS (abc24.com) - Sometimes success depends on asking for help. That's what the Marshall County Sheriff's Department is doing after a week of violence. Deputies are investigating three unsolved shootings, including a murder.

"We've been extremely busy," says Major Kelly McMillen. "It's been rough."

Marshall County's had three shootings in the past week. One resulted in a murder. The others left two men in critical condition at The MED.

"On all three of the cases there's been no charges filed. We're just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together."

There's no rhyme or reason to the violence. The incidents are spread out across the county.

"These cases are all so much alike." But deputies don't believe they're related.

"On Walnut Circle we had two people kick a door in. They robbed the residence and took several guns and shot a guy in the house."

"At 110 Ridge Road, a person was fatally shot inside a residence."

"On the 200-block of Highway 309, the victim was shot. He spoke to his mother briefly by phone from the MED. He's suffering from a gunshot wound to side. Hopefully he'll recover from that."

McMillen wants to put those responsible behind bars, asking the public for information.

"It's unimaginable the help we get in those situations if you just ask for it," he says. "We want to work and get to the bottom of as many of these cases as we can pretty quick. If any are related when we develop a suspect and get enough information then we can close two cases at one time."

Anyone with information on these shootings should call the Sheriff's office at (662) 252-1311.
