MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Slayden, Mississippi teenager is doing better after a close call with death.

18-year-old Charles Hardeman was upgraded from critical to serious condition at The MED in Memphis.

Deputies say someone attacked the teen at his home in Marshall County two weeks ago. The attackers tied up Hardeman, then tied him to a concrete block and threw him in a lake. After leaving him to drown, his home was burned to the ground.

Hardeman was able to free himself to go get help, but crashed into a tree.

Marshall County investigators are still trying to find the attackers.
