NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says authorities have found a massive and sophisticated marijuana growing operation in a remote area in the northwest corner of Obion County and officials think it could be one of the largest ever found in the state.

TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said acres of marijuana were discovered in the Chickasaw Bluff area between Reelfoot Lake and Lake Isom and agents from the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication were there Wednesday to start removing the plants.

Helm said the operation had a retention pond, tunnels for generators and living and cooking areas. Due to the terrain, Helm said they don't know yet how many plants there are.

No arrests have been made and the removal of the plants could take several days, Helm said.

No arrests have been made? The authorities didn't stakeout this area in hopes of ensnaring the offenders BEFORE they began removing all the cannabis plants? Good work, Keystone Cops!

the Obion County authorities probably planted it them selves and reported the find with no arrest to make them look good.

So, while our country is struggling for a solution to our national debt problem, our taxes are paying people to destroy millions of dollars worth of plants. . . We have a black president, gay couples can marry and adopt children, yet we still refuse to legalize stupid pot? Goverment control and distribution of this crop wouldn't fix things, but it would probably help out a hell of a lot more than expected.
