too bad no one knows how long management had been begging the city of memphis, tdot, the state of tn and other government agencies that are suppose to help home owners and residents to clean drainage ditches for years. those ditches had absolutely no maintenance from those responsible to do so once this issue was identified. the company that ownes the property spent thousands trying to buildup the back side of the property where the major drainage ditch is located to try and help slow the chances of the ditch overflowing its banks. no help from the state, city on that project even though it is their responsibility to maintain them and address flooding issues. also the ditches between the left and right portions of highway 51 have not been cleared and/or clean for over 30years. continue repavement projects by tdot over the years and lack of holding contractor workmanship to a standard resulted in completely filling and burying culverts that were designed to divert water to the drainage ditch (again a ditch that has never been maintained by the agencies that recieve tax dollars to do so has become filled with trash, saplings and trees in some places over 2ft in diameter). This means during flash floods water backs up into the park from the unmaintained drainage ditches and runoff from the top of the hill can continually flow over hwy 51into the park entrance due to stopped up culverts. this water flows like a spillway into the park from the hill leading to our lady of sorrows and pours over the banks of the unmaintained ditch that surrounds the park. none of the residents have ever joined in the management fight to have the government agencies that are responsible for maintaining these drainages allocate funding to do so. few residents joined in this campaign as it seems to be easier to blame management who allocated over thousands to try and find a solution but they were limited to doing project only on their property. the community has always been a clean, safe pla
