MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A grand jury in northern Mississippi has indicted a member of the body that made recommendations on merging the public schools in Memphis and Shelby County.
A DeSoto County grand jury returned an indictment charging 70-year-old Tommy Hart of Collierville with embezzling nearly $47,000 in prize money from bowling leagues that played at his bowling alley in DeSoto County.
The indictment was returned June 14, but it was not made public until Monday. Hart made his initial court appearance on Thursday.
Hart is free on $50,000 bond after his May 4 arrest in the case.
