MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis-America's premier Aerotroplis. The Memphis International Airport is the busiest air cargo airport in North America. The city has five class one railroads. Downtown is located just off of I-40, the third busiest trucking corridor in the country.

The Greater Memphis Chamber held the Mid-South Aerotroplis conference Tuesday to discuss how the city can use its transportation assets to create jobs, capital investment, and revitalize local neighborhoods.

Dexter Muller, Vice President of the Greater Memphis Chamber, says, "Because of the economy, we have unemployment. We have needs for development and creating new jobs and new taxes. So, it's about bringing economic prosperity to our citizens."

In the Memphis metro area, 10 percent of workers are employed in transportation and utilities industries. That's the highest percentage in the country's top 100 largest metro areas.

Memphis’ Aerotropolis region includes Shelby County, northern DeSoto and Tunica counties in Mississippi and western Crittenden County in Arkansas.
