Only in Memphis would they have a convicted felon as an animal control officer. The Memphis Animal Shelter is a hellhole for these poor animals. Look at the kind of people hired? And your mayor and Matthew Pepper could care less. Matter of fact, they probably hired her. And your tax dollars are paying her salary. Let's not blame the owner of Kapone for this one. The blame should all be on this she-devil who even now is on paid leave. Even after confirmed cases of animal cruelty. Rethink who you vote into office next election day.

First of all this incident is a travesty. She should be put away for a very long time, she is already an ex con, and received a second chance and still messed up another chance at freedom, lock her up and throw away the key. To the person who left a comment regarding pitbulls being a dangerous breed, let's please stop the ignorance. Pits are animals, and they will do what they have been trained to do. I own 4, yes 4 pitties, and I have NO problems with them AT ALL! They are cute, fun loving, adorable and very loyal dogs. Let me ask you to think about something intelligently for a second. If these "dangerous" breeds are tortured, almost starved, and trained until they drop to fight, and be vicious, yet they NEVER turn on these owners who torture and abuse them. No, they continue to do what their "master" wants them to do. They are one of the MOST LOYAL breeds who will do whatever it takes to please their masters, whatever their master decides to make them do. So if you love, respect, and train them properly, they will be without a doubt one of the most loyal, friendly, and appreciative animals you will ever come across. Also do yourself a favor and do some research on the Michael Vik dogs, especially Bad Rap website, they have very detailed time lines of those dogs rescued from that poor excuse for a human, and then come back and tell me that pitbulls are a dangerous breed. And for anyone else, please do not feed into ignorance do some research before you speak about something you have only speculations to go on, it's really quite embarrassing. It's HUMANS who are to blame here, not an animal who does not have choices or free will.

Are you kidding? I was around Kapone for the full 11 years of his life and I can assure you that without a doubt you have never met a dog that is so docile and loving as that dog was. He never bit or hurt a single person in all the 11 years of his life. So what should Brooke be blamed for? Because her dogs accidentally got out of the fence and did nothing wrong and hurt no one but they were a particular breed so therefore the dog deserved to be taken and what sold for bait to a dog fighter or killed? You are ridiculous to say such a thing. The breed of the dog is not at issue here and his temperament is not either BECAUSE HE DID NOT HURT OR BITE ANYONE AT ANY TIME IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE. At this point he is an old dog late in his life so I can assure you that if he was going to hurt someone it would have already happened at least once in these 11 years. So if it was a Pomeranian that accidentally got out of the yard would you feel differently? Seriously if you have never known or owned one of these animals then you have no basis for your statements other than what you have heard or read. Regardless of this breed's reputation, I can tell you from true experience that this particular dog was more kind hearted than any other dog I have ever known. I surely hope that you don't really believe that since he was a particular breed then it shouldn't matter that he was picked up and has vanished without a trace. There is no telling what his fate was after they got their hands on him and I can assure you if he was sold for a bait dog for training fighting dogs, he will be killed very quickly because he is old and mild mannered and has never fought anything.. dog or human. He was happy and well loved by his family and that was stolen both from him and from his family so don't sit here on your high horse and act like his breeds makes him less deserving of your sympathy. He is still a living breathing thing and he deserves to be home with those who love him.

This sow and every single employee at that animal death factory needs to lose their jobs. It would take a cruel person to work at such a place to begin with. Anybody who could watch (or condone) innocent animals being put to death for being homeless has to be a little off in the head anyway. That shelter is a bad deal to begin with, so anybody who works there is bound to be a little off in the head. Either that, or just a cruel animal hater.

Memphis is nothing but a third world cesspool. This convicted felon should NEVER have been hired by the city in ANY capacity, much less as an animal control OFFICER.

I blame the owner of the dogs as much as I blame anyone for this situation. Pit Bulls are a dangerous breed. If you have one it is YOUR responsiblity to make sure it is contained in your yard. How many more people have to be killed by these dogs before they are banned in this city?
