I'd give the bus riders what they want. In return, the drivers of these crap wagons agree to stay in their own lane on Poplar Avenue.

"buses not running in black populated areas" They run in Memphis right? Memphis is almost %70 black, so I fail to understand how they aren't running in black populated areas. This city is hilarious. To the Bus Riders Union, the black community of Memphis can't play the race card anymore. You've already run all the good people,(white, black etc.)out of Memphis and you're in charge and destroying the city all on your own. MATA is the way it is because of the Bus Riders it services. Reap what you sow, etc.. .

Bus riders claim MATA has been running a substandard "ghetto bus service" for years. There is not a need in the new neighborhoods for bus service. When they extend service out, all it does is carry the crime and hood rats out farther to commit more crime and close more businesess. Not sure how it can be racist, most riders are black, so I guess they are playing the race card against thier own. Quit running the buses in the areas where there less than two riders, better yet raise the prices. Even the school buses have riff-raff on them. Watching the ones in my neighborhood you see some future thugs acting up. Makes you wonder what kind of parents they have.

The Giant buses that run the east corridor out Poplar and also Hwy 64 are practically empty. Send them back to the terminal and find a 12 passenger shuttle van. Someday someone is going to wake up and realize what a rip-off MATA is.

Really? Send all the new buses to the hood so they can be trashed and destroyed like the old ones. Once a bus is put onto service it should stay on the same route for its life. That way those who ride it could take some pride in it.But you know that won't happen they want all the new stuff so they can whine and complain when it is trashed and then they will want more new stuff. As for all night routes in these neighborhoods good luck in that Mata is not going to spring for combat pay and bullet proof drivers boxes for the drivers. Let alone who is going to risk their lives to stand on the corner waiting to catch a bus , come on get for real!
