INTERESTING.... The first departments getting the once over by the budget committee members are police and fire. Strickland said, "Well I don't think anyone's proposing cuts in the number of police officers. I don't think anybody is proposing that. So I don't think that's going to be a problem," adding the same goes for the fire department. The mayor has promised he won't cut city workers' salaries or make cuts to police and fire. That's why he is asking for a tax increase. I guess they didn't get the INFORMATION BULLETIN TODAY stating that they were removing 5 fire companies effective July 1, 2012. So long... Ladder Truck 6 - Fire Station 28 - 1510 Chelsea Ave Ladder Truck 12 - Fire Station 30 - 1150 Getwell Rd Ladder Truck 13 - Fire Station 7 - 1017 Jefferson Ave Ladder Truck 26 - Fire Station 53 - 5881 E Raines Rd Rescue Truck 1 - Fire Station 25 - 4735 Willow Rd I guess Director Benson determined on his own that these neighborhoods didn't need fire coverage.....
