MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis City Councilwoman Janis Fullilove hasn't been feeling the love from her creditors and now she's seeking relief. The 5-year City Council veteran filed for bankruptcy protection.
Fullilove supporter Philip Hudson told abc24.com he's not disappointed in Fullilove because he says, "Anybody can have financial difficulty."
But, he adds, Fullilove should handle her personal business better. "If you can't get your own house in order how can you run somebody else's house?"
Fullilove supporter Oliver Pope said, "I personally like the lady and I wish her the best."
While William Dickey says he understands that "everybody has personal problems," he said her bankruptcy doesn't set a good example. "We always got to have responsibility to take care of our own business."
Fullilove isn't the only local politician to file for bankruptcy. Shelby County Commissioners Henri Brooks and Chris Thomas have done so as well.
