MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The Memphis City Council has delayed a vote on amending the city's non-discrimination ordinance for 30 days.
The council met Tuesday, September 18 to vote on whether to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the ordinance that bans discrimination in city employment because of age, ethnicity, national origin and disability.
The delay will allow time to see if the matter should instead be a change to the city's charter, which would require a referendum vote to add it.
