Unfortunately ABC 24, this story is not accurate... The old dairy building was not demolished Tuesday, 8/28/12 - but instead there was a celebration that it will be demolished thanks to federal funds, the city's help, and with SMA's purchase of the building. The old dairy building will not be a laundromat. SMA did purchase the old laundromat across from the dairy, that was slated to be purchased by someone else to become a nightclub, and it is under construction now to become the SMA Community Laundromat and Resource Center. The story ended with anchors saying "I wonder what they'll do with that milk jug... I hope they keep it" when in fact the celebration ended with SMA donating the milk jug to The Children's Museum of Memphis, and they spoke about their plans to refurbish the jug and incorporate it into a functional exhibit for the children of Memphis to enjoy. These two great articles, by The Commercial Appeal and The Daily News, report all of the story, accurately: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2012/aug/28/memphis-dairy-plant-to-be-razed-at-gateway-to/ http://www.memphisdailynews.com/editorial/Article.aspx?id=71007

Unfortunately this story was reported inaccurately. The report states that the old dairy will be a laundromat when in fact the event explained that the laundromat across the street is under construction by SMA and that the dairy will be the future SMA Center for Families and Children. The report says the old dairy was demolished that day (Aug. 28, 2012) when in fact it was not demolished, but instead there was a celebration that it will be demolished. The report ends with anchors saying "I wonder what they're going to do with the milk jug... I hope they keep it" when SMA in fact donated it to The Children's Museum of Memphis.
