Memphis reminds me of the movie,"ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK". Why would any one want to become part of their situation? Just like our national government, Memphis has miss used the tax payers money and a lot of tax money has been stolen by crooks holding office or positions of over sight in the city. So they want to grow the city or government bigger to get more tax money to miss use. This is insane. Memphis complains because Nashville doesn't pay enough attention to her. Feeling insulted because they act like Memphis is not even part of the State. Then when Nashville does recognize her and tries to help with the mess she has gotten herself and Shelby County into, Memphis starts yelling fowl. If you people in Memphis want Nashville to but out then leave the County alone. We do not want your crooked, tax abuser, government running any part of our lives in the County. That is why we moved out of Memphis in the first place. Memphis use to be a beautiful city where people could ride a bike, walk, take a buss to any point in the city a feel safe and have fun. Now it has become a place to fear and stay away from. When you clean up your own mess then maybe you could come out here and join with us to make a better living situation for all of us rather than just wanting our money to throw down the money pit you have created.

The 1999 agreement was nothing more than the cities dividing up the sufdom to enhance their own budgets. These were officials elected by their respective constituents & not the people being annexed, who should have a right to say if they will be annexed. If I had a choice, I would be annexed by Germantown not Memphis. After all, I can throw a rock across the river from my house 7 it will land in Germantow. I can't say teh same about Memphis

If the writers are going to quote the Mayor, they could quote his impeccable English and not the discombobulated sentences that are being placed in quotes, as statements right from the Mayor.

Why wouldn't someone want to be annexed. Why our taxes doubled, house value dropped thru the floor, services are terrible and there was a murder at our entrance the first day our entrapement became official.

1. Memphis doesn't need to suck up Fisherville against its wishes - the Memphis government cannot effectively deal with what it currently has, it only wants the extra revenue. 2. Memphis is already on the road to ruin, if it is not already there. The actions of the meddlers in Nashville will not change that either way....
