MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis grandmother says she doesn't know what else to do. She says she's tried everything to rid her apartment of bed bugs, but they still keep her up all night, every night. Her fight may soon be over, as the Mayor of Memphis puts the bed bugs on notice.

"They bite every night. I didn't go to sleep this morning until about 4 o'clock," Remell Williams said.

Williams lives in the Jefferson Square Apartments, part of the Memphis Housing Authority. She says she's complained, but the Housing Authority hasn't sprayed her apartment, leaving her to suffer.

"To me it is pretty bad, very bad." she said.

Williams says she's bought bed bug killer, covered herself in bug repellent, even bought a new mattress and wrapped it in plastic, but nothing worked.

"Plenty of nights I don't get to sleep. Not one night. Plenty of nights," Williams said.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton promised quick action when abc24.com informed him of Williams' ordeal.

"I will personally make sure that somebody gets through there tomorrow," Mayor Wharton said. "We will get it done, that should not be, we will make no excuses for it, tell her help is on the way."

Williams and her daughter say they will follow up with the Mayor's Office on Monday morning.
