MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis Police have closed down two nightclubs after documenting drug sales and unlawful alcohol selling.

Hearings are scheduled for Club Materialistic in north Memphis and the 2 for 1 Bar in Hickory Hill on Tuesday in Shelby County Environmental Court. Both were shut down over the weekend.

Undercover officers also documented partially nude dancing and said they were propositioned for sex at the 2 for 1. They reported simulated sex acts at the Materialistic.

Police said the Materialistic doesn't have a beer or alcohol license, but was selling without checking identification.

I think the local governments are public nuisances. Can we shut them down?
