Memphis Swim Program Wins $5K Grant, Olympic Visit

With over half a million online votes, Make a Splash Mid-South's water safety video has earned the city a $5,000 grant to provide free children's swimming lessons and a special visit from Olympic Gold Medalist Cullen Jones.

This program is sorely needed; I have never understood why most minorities don't know how to swim, although I think I have read somewhere where thier bones are denser, thus making the body less buoyant....be that as it may, I think the biggest factor is fear of the water. Everyone should know how to swim, for their safety & the safety of others who may have to initiate a rescue.....
