NASHVILLE, TN (abc24.com) - An 18-year-old from Memphis was shot at his Tennessee State University campus dorm in Nashville after he was robbed of his laptop and gaming system.
According to ABC affiliate WKRN-TV, the shooting happened Sunday, Feb. 19 just after 4 a.m. Police said an unknown armed suspect approached the student and took his belongings at gunpoint and then shot him in the leg.
The student, whose name has not been released, is expected to recover. It is not known if the suspect is also a student at TSU.
School officials told WKRN there was a security guard on duty at the residence hall when the robbery occurred, and they are increasing security in the area.
