MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - For the first time in Memphis Zoo history, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with marine life. Stingray Bay will put stingrays and sharks right at your fingertips.

In the 17,000 gallon saltwater pool you'll see two types of stingrays, the cownose and southern stingrays, and two types of sharks, the white spotted bamboo and the bonnethead shark.

Not only will you be allowed to touch the animals, you'll also be able to feed them.

Zoo employees think the exhibit will be popular among all guests, no matter their age.

"It's going to be a huge hit," said Laura Doty with the Memphis Zoo. "I think everyone's going to enjoy it; it's something new and exciting and different."

Stingray Bay opens to zoo members Saturday, March 2 and to the general public on Monday, March 9.
