MILLINGTON, TN (abc24.com) - Millington is swearing in their new top cop at Thursday's city council meeting.
Rita Stanback is being sworn in as Millington's new Police Chief. Interim Mayor Linda Carter announced Stanback would take the position last week after former Chief Ray Douglas turned in his resignation.
Stanback was the first female lieutenant in the department's history, and comes with high praises from both Carter and former mayor Richard Hodges.
Douglas did not state a reason for his resignation, other than to say "it was time," and was unrelated to an investigation into a gambling ring among city officials.
